Held for the first time in 2008, Miss Beauty Queen used to be the national final for the selection of a UK candidate to attend Miss International, however with the director not renewing his licence in 2010, the contest this year has as yet not announced a new international contest for the winner to attend.  Miss Beauty Queen winner 2008, Jamie Lee says, “It was a fantastic day, I met some lovely girls who were very supportive and genuinely pleased of my winning. OK magazine were there and MTV… I look forward to my year as Miss Beauty Queen and representing Britain in Chicago”.  The entry age is the widest of any UK pageant, being 19 to 29, so the more mature contestants who narrowly miss out in other UK pageants get their chance to shine in this one.  There is also a Teen version of this pageant, so it’s very versatile and not restricted to just ‘Miss’ contestants - which is good news for those younger entrants, who want to break into pageants in their teenage years.
