UK Beauties accepts that while modelling is a fantastic way to see the world, forge new friendships and have fun, it can become a dangerous industry if you do not know what to watch out for. Here at UKB, we aim to offer you our top safety tips, to equip you with some basic safety advice to ensure you operate in a safe and secure environment:
Be smart, be safe: Never put yourself in a position of being vulnerable, and ensure you tell a relative, friend, colleague, or someone you live with who you are meeting, where you are going, when you are returning, and what you will be doing at the casting, Your personal safety is paramount!
Before you attend any casting call, be it through an agency or otherwise, if you do not have a good feeling about it, use a search engine such as google to check the history of the company, or photographer running the casting. Don’t discount your intuition, it could save your life.
If you are under 18, be sure to have an adult or level-headed friend accompany you to casting calls. People running genuine modelling auditions, in safe and secure environments will not mind, and will be glad to see you.
If you feel uncomfortable at a shoot and feel you are being pressured into inappropriate poses or roles, you have the right to say no. If your agency has sent you to the shoot, call your booker immediately and report the problem.
If a photographer asks you for money to attend a photo shoot, walk away. You should never pay to do a modelling job – you should be compensated for travel and basic expenses, or they should pay you.
Finally, if you feel you have been inappropriately touched or treated in an unprofessional way, report it immediately and call the police if necessary!
